By using various techniques you can make a webpage to contain lots of relevant information about a certain subject. After the optimization for searchengines, the page will be indexed correctly. SEO Techniques

While optimizing a site for searchengines, there are lots of factors that play a role. The most important ones are content and relevant links to the page. Here is a summary of the most important aspects as described on wikipedia:

• Title of the page (each page should have its own unique title)
• Using headers and semantic markup
• The name of the file: google friendly url's, no weird characters in the url, not deeper than 3.

• Domainname
• Using "alt" tags for images and links (description of the image/link)
• Page content
• Other pages on your site

Black Hat SEO

Some SEO companies use an array of tricks in the website code to make the searchengine index the page well. Like placing links and text in the same color as the backgroundcolor so it will only be visible for a searchengine. Flash sites are also sometimes used to contain hidden content. Another trick some people use is to create a page filled with keywords and use a Javascript to redirect users to another site when they land on that page. Searchengine spiders don't execute Javascript so to a searchengine the page will look like a valid one. Sites that use these kind of tricks to get a higher ranking in the search results are called Black Hat SEO.

 

Organic Search Results

Organic search results and paid search results are two resultgroups that are returned by Google's searchengine. SEO will only affect organic search results. The paid search results are also called SEA or Search Engine Advertising. Organic search results are based on contentrelevance, popularity and links to a page. Do you score well on those points? Your site will very likely be high in the rankings in a couple of weeks. SEO results will not immediately pay off, it takes some time (often a couple of weeks) before the results will show up in searchengines.
